A short drive west of Colonial Williamsburg's Historic Area,  Virginia's plantation past awaits you! Piney Grove at Southall's Plantation is conveniently situated for visiting Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, Williamsburg Outlet Shopping, the renowned Williamsburg Pottery, Busch Gardens and Williamsburg Area golfing (The Colonial, Ford's Colony, Golden Horseshoe, Kingsmill, Kiskiack, Royal New Kent, Stonehouse, Williamsburg National),. Area offerings in Richmond include Civil War battlefields, the Court End Museums and Sites, the Museums of the Boulevard and numerous historic neighborhoods including Church Hill, Jackson Ward, Windsor Farms, and the Riverfront. Nearby Hopewell and Petersburg offer more plantation touring and Civil War sites, including Pamplin Park, Appomattox Manor, Weston Manor, Flowerdew Hundred and Brandon. Just a hop and skip across the Chickahominy River you will find the Colonial Downs horse racing facility.  And an enjoyeable ride on the Jamestown Ferry will take you to Surry County to explore yet more plantations - Chippokes, Smith's Fort and Bacon's Castle.

Regardless of you itinerary, your visit to the past begins, depending on the season, with Mint Juleps on the front porch or Hot Toddies by a roaring fire. Spacious guestrooms in the 1857 LADYSMITH HOUSE are furnished with antiques and family heirlooms. Rooms also include modern conveniences such as private modern baths, refrigerators, coffee makers and hairdryers. The pool, gazebo, nature trail and lawn games are available for guest enjoyment. The barnyard of farm animals, the star-filled country sky and bird-friendly gardens also provide first-rate live entertainment! Lodgings are INSPECTED, RATED AND APPROVED by several of America's premier travel guides and travel associations.

Each morning the farm bell announces the plantation breakfast served by candlelight in the 1790 LOG ROOM. The hearty morning meal prepares you for a busy day of touring, a day of recreation or just a relaxing day at Piney Grove. Elegant candlelight dinners may be enjoyed nearby at Indian Fields Tavern and the Coach House Tavern, or partake in one of Piney Grove's "James River Plantation Progressive Candlelight Tour and Dinners."

For an additional fee, surprise your special someone upon arrival with a "Virginia Basket" or personal celebration cake.  These surprise gifts are also ideal to give to your friends or relatives that are visiting Piney Grove.  Call Cindy Rae at (804) 829-2196 to order one of these unique surprise gifts.  Orders should be placed at least one week in advance of the visit.

Lodging, package plan and special event gift certificates make an ideal present for holidays, birthdays, anniversaries and retirements.  Custom-printed certificates are personalized for the recipient and can be mailed to the purchaser or directly to the recipient.  Please call Joan at (804) 829-2480.

RESERVATION AND CANCELLATION POLICIES

The reservation policy requires a full-payment deposit by check or money order.   Reservations will be held for five days, providing time for deposits to be mailed to Piney Grove.

The cancellation policy requires a thirty day advance notice for a full refund.  Refunds will be made, less a ten percent handling fee, for reservations cancelled more than thirty days before the reservation date.  If a reservation is cancelled less than thirty days before the reservation, a refund, less a ten percent handling fee (based on the reservation total), will be made only if the reserved room is re-booked.

We thank you for your consideration and understanding of our reservation and cancellation policies:  They insure that the limited number of accommodations at Piney Grove are actually enjoyed by guests, rather than remaining vacant.
